Because it's easy to get lost, here's the good information you need to know!
Recycled fur
Recycled fur does not require any form of transformation, since the material already exists. Furs in good condition are carefully selected in order to be transformed and adapted to more current needs. The fur is worked by hand, by craftsmen who have acquired expertise that is perpetuated from generation to generation. Its transformation is therefore not polluting, just like the material itself which, after having been used for several decades, will decompose by itself without leaving any trace.
Synthetic fur
Faux fur is made of synthetic fibers that are actually plastic derivatives and whose manufacturing involves the use of polluting chemicals and tons of water. Throughout its active life, synthetic fur releases polluting microparticles that end up in the water and affect all living organisms, eventually ending up in the trash and never degrade, unlike the natural fur that we recycle.
The so-called "vegan" fur
We have seen the emergence of the term "vegan fur" in recent years. The use of the word vegan refers to a lifestyle that refuses the consumption of animal products in all its forms. Vegan, however, does not mean ecological, and unfortunately the promotion of vegan fur boils down to promoting synthetic fur, despite its manufacturing methods that are extremely harmful to the environment. Which goes to show that it is important to understand the methods behind the manufacturing of a product rather than being charmed by a term that sounds good!
Why is recycled fur eco-friendly?
BIODEGRADABLE
Unlike fake fur or all those synthetic materials that will end up in the trash waiting for a long decomposition, fur is a natural material that will simply degrade at the end of its life, without leaving a trace.
FOR THE LOVE OF ANIMALS
Even though the methods of trapping and farming furs are governed by very strict standards, recycled fur still takes us away from these practices. We are simply using the coats that kept our ancestors warm and who would otherwise sleep in a closet!
ZERO POLLUTION
Recycled fur is the reuse of old fur coats that are still in good condition to create new products. We therefore work from an existing material, no need to create new materials whose production is polluting.
